Community

Springboard for the Arts is based in the Lowertown neighborhood of Saint Paul, Minnesota.  We have 20 years of experience developing practical tools and building skills that transform the way artists work in their careers and in their communities.

There is a lot of attention right now on how to improve communities, spark economic development, and tap the creative potential of local business.

Over the next decade, Springboard is working to build a network of places that celebrate artists for their economic and social contributions and leverage their artistic skills in service of the community.  We do this by:

  • Offering artist training in practical business and community engagement skills
  • Nurturing cross-sector partnerships between artists and government, business, community and cultural organizations
  • Sharing innovative program models that connect individuals, businesses and organizations directly to artists and their work.

We believe that greater connection between artists and their communities creates:

  • Jobs for artists and small business development for communities
  • More liveable neighborhoods
  • Healthier local economies
  • New approaches for creative problem solving
  • Increased cultural engagement, regional pride and mutual respect among diverse members of the community
